Life is meant to be good…not only good, but GREAT.
Anything less, means we’ve bought into some false ideas, and have solidified them into powerful beliefs. These limiting beliefs take root in our subconscious, and we spend our resources trying to change them, only to find that we have made the beliefs stronger by our very struggle with them. Is that what you want? Do you want to continue the same old struggle? Do you want to resign yourself to the current conditions of your life, dealing with things ‘as they are’ instead of living the life you truly want?
If not, then effective, impactful, positive change is possible; no, not just possible but attainable when you dare to believe in the possibilities for your life, and take actions that are focused on their unfolding.
However, it seems easier to continue to resist by holding onto the old way of doing things; at least we know what to expect. Besides, we think making changes in our lives can be difficult and frustrating.
We know we are intelligent, capable beings. We should be able to figure this out, and yet we seem to have the same problems over and over. We can’t seem to get ahead. No matter what job we get, it ends up not being what we really want, the people are difficult to deal with or we are passed over for promotions. We struggle with relationships. It doesn’t matter where we go to meet people, they end up treating us like all the others who came before, and we don’t like it.
Still, as uncomfortable as we get, we wait, until it becomes even more difficult and painful to stay the same. Then we start asking, how do we change? What do we have to do to be happier, healthier, and more prosperous in our life? Is it even possible to have that, or will it just be too difficult to attain?
We resist. We try again, using the old beliefs one more time, in the hopes we will have a different outcome.
Seeing a pattern here?
If we are fortunate, this pattern will impact us enough that we will be willing to release our resistance to change so we can start to honor the call of our heart for something better.
Taking action to build a happier, more prosperous life can be difficult. It requires different ways of thinking which means modifications in behavior. That takes time because repetition is important for building the strength and consistency required for quality change. If we are not supported, it’s too easy to give up because we get caught in the muck of the moment, and forget the greater vision we are building.
That is why working with a life coach is so valuable. Having a knowledgeable partner, skilled in the coaching tools of assessing, listening, inspiring, and asking questions will enable you to make consistent steps towards the fulfillment of your dreams. However, the person who has the real power to succeed is you. You are the only one who can truly effect any change in your life. If you are committed to living a great life, and willing to do the work that is required, then hiring a skilled coach will help you achieve your vision and goals.
Working with a professional coach is an investment of your time, money and energy. It is important to do your research to make sure the personality and professional skillset of the coach matches you and your needs. To help you with this process, a few questions are provided for you to use.
What questions to ask a coach….
- What is the coach’s vision for their practice? How does their life reflect their vision? How have they demonstrated success in their own life?
- Does the coach have their own coach to support them in expanding their life?
- What credentials do they have to support them as a coach?
- What do they want for their clients?
- What program, if any, do they use?
- How long are their coaching programs and why? What’s included in the program?
- How long and often are the sessions? How are they conducted? (In-person, online via Skype/Google-Hangout, etc., or by phone?)
- Is the program promising something it cannot fulfill?
- What is the cost, and what forms of payment are expected and accepted?
Our life is meant to be good…not only good, but GREAT. We are worth it! Living a life we love is worth it! Letting go of struggle, and the idea that we have to accept life as it currently is, is worth it! But the only person who gets to decide is us, each one of us, on an individual basis. The decision is neither a right nor a wrong one. It is simply a decision to answer the question: How happy, prosperous, creative and loving a life do I want, and am I willing to let go of the fear of change, to do the work to embrace that life?
